Traffic Monitoring Training - Hamilton

This training session will provide an understanding of the principles of Traffic Monitoring across a road transportation network.

The training will focus on how to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of Traffic Monitoring
  • Create a Traffic Monitoring Strategy
  • Implement and Traffic Monitoring Programme
  • Update Traffic Estimates across the network

Traffic data plays a fundamental role in assessing demand on our transportation networks. Road asset management, transport planning, transport and environmental policy decisions all rely on accurate and robust traffic data. However, recent benchmarking as part of the Road Efficiency Group initiatives shows current and comprehensive traffic data is still one of the biggest areas of improvement required for data quality. This training will assist road controlling authorities in obtaining an efficient traffic monitoring programme and reliable estimate updates for their network. The benefits are improved data to base sound evidence based investment decisions.

RCA transportation asset managers, consultants and contractors who are responsible for traffic monitoring strategies, programmes and updating network estimates.

Facilitator

Mike Tapper will be presenting the training. Mike has over 25 years experience in road asset management. He has undertaken traffic data collection, implemented monitoring strategies and used the traffic data extensively.
