Pavement Recycling and Stabilisation

Performance Outcomes and Cases

Breakfast Briefing

Tuesday 17th October 2023, 7:30 am – 9:15 am ACST at the Adelaide Pavilion
This is IPWEA's first Breakfast Briefing in a couple of years, so the format might not be familiar. Here is the basic timeline:

  • Attendees arrive early enough to park. See Parking Details below.
  • 7:30-8:00 - Network, get beverages, find a seat
  • 8:00 Event starts. Full cooked breakfast is served at table
  • 9- 9:15 Event ends (depends on questions)

Session 3 will review the performance of various pavement recycling and stabilisation projects and present case study examples of treatments undertaken over the years and how they have performed and the lessons learnt with respect to how design assumptions may have been met or adjusted depending on the particular site characteristics.  This session will give people a sense of real applications and the challenges that can occur, but also the actual benefits of this innovation in reducing emissions and deployment of recycling alternatives to supplant virgin material extraction.

Damien Edwards, Technical Manager, Hiway Group (Hiway Stabilizers)

Damien Edwards has experience in a wide range and variety of civil engineering projects that include aviation civil design, traffic and road related projects, including traffic engineering geometric road design, flexible, rigid and heavy duty pavement design for both road and airports and buildings. Damien's role is to provide a high level of quality and cost effective specialist design and advice in the area of pavement design (including re-use, recycling, and in-situ rehab), analysis and condition assessment for projects that can be complex in nature. He has many examples and case studies using various techniques to share - the challenge is to limit his presentation to only 45 minutes!
