Rymill Park - Murlawirrapurka Tech Talk and Site Tour

IPWEA SA and the City of Adelaide are proud to invite you to this special Tech Talk and Site Tour Rolled into one event!

Rymill Park is one of Adelaide's most loved and frequently used recreational spaces. Its various areas offer the community and event operators many options to enjoy the park in all seasons.

Before demolition for this renewal project, the lake provided park visitors with opportunities to enjoy scenic views, row boats on the water and is frequently used for events with the lake as a backdrop or a focal point, as seen during the recently held Adelaide Equestrian Festival. However, the lake required renewal to address structural decline, a leaking base and ongoing poor water quality and amenity.

For this event, we will be starting at the Adelaide Bowling Club for a Tech Talk about the completed work. We will have presentations from all the main players in the project so we can get the full picture of the work. We will then go for a guided walk to see the work completed. Afterward, we will return to the Adelaide Bowling Club where you are welcome to join out Young IPWEA Social Lawn Bowling Event - book separately for that event through this link or by seeing our events webpage.

Project Information:

Rymill Park's artificial lake, originally constructed in 1959 and opened in 1960, will be repaired so that it can be enjoyed for years to come. South Australian infrastructure and development contractor, CATCON will be completing important maintenance and upgrade works to Rymill Park’s beloved lake, including:

  • Upgraded lake base and retaining walls
  • Installation of a new self-cleaning rain garden filtration system to naturally treat the water with native water plants.
  • New weirs to assist with isolating the water in the lake for future maintenance and events.
  • A new lake walk and commuter paths around the lake, and a new boat launch in front of the Rymill Park Kiosk.
  • New lighting around the lake.
  • Installation of underground tanks for water storage.

The Rymill Park Lake Renewal project is a key deliverable of the Rymill Park / Murlawirrapurka (Park 14) Master Plan and you can find out more about the Master Plan here:
